For show and tell, bring an item you have made for Christmas decorating or giving. The group will collect personal care items to be given to local shelters for victims of domestic violence. For more information call 828-691-0449. | | Farm City Breakfast December 5th at Burnsville Town Center The Annual Farm City Awards Breakfast will be held, Thursday, December 5th at 7am at the Burnsville Town Center. The breakfast celebrates those individuals, farmers, educators, youth and businesses that make Yancey County a wonderful place. This year the breakfast will feature local products from local farmers and businesses. The menu will feature local eggs, sausage, grits, potatoes and apples and biscuit and gravy. Last year the breakfast served 80 individuals and only produced ½ a bag of garbage, the rest was composted or shared. This reduction in waste was made possible by the teamwork of the Yancey County Cooperative Extension, Dig In! Community Garden, TRACTOR, the Toe Cane BeeKeepers, the Yancey Farmers Market, Blue Ridge RC & D, and the Master Gardeners. The Breakfast is sponsored by Yancey County Cooperative Extension, Yancey Farm Bureau, Carolina Farm Credit, Blue Ridge Resource Conservation and Development, Burnsville Wine and….
