JOIN THE CLEANUP EFFORT!!!!
On September 21 join Thrifty Adventures, MountainTrue and the French Broad Riverkeeper for the annual Big Sweep clean up on the Toe River! The Big Sweep is an event that happens each year cleaning several rivers in WNC. Paddle with us on the Toe River or support the effort by picking up litter alongside the Road and around the swimming hole to help us beautify this special place. Bring your own boat or reserve one of a limited number of kayaks available (first come first serve by reservation, must send email tothriftyadventures@gmail.com to reserve your boat)
If you're confirmed as using one of Thrifty Adventures boats, we will provide the boat, paddle, PFD and helmet. Otherwise, you should plan to bring your own boat and all your own paddling gear. If you are on shore, please wear sturdy shoes and clothing to be ready for any type of weather. Everyone should bring your own water and food for the day and be prepared to be wet and in the elements. We'll gather afterward at the Thrifty Adventures Outpost for hotdogs and refreshments.
WNC Big Sweep is a partnership of MountainTrue and our French Broad, Green, Broad, and Watauga Riverkeepers, Asheville Greenworks, Mills River Partnership, and RiverLink working together to clean as much litter and debris from WNC waterways in a unified effort.
This year we opened a new outpost by the Toe River. We have a $15 Tube option where folks get a one-way shuttle to the Red Hill Swim Hole then a two-hour float (depending on water levels) back to our Outpost. The take out offers an opportunity to check out the Suspension Bridge with a short walk back to the Outpost. We are offering several new river trips along with Tote and Float Boat options (ie boat rentals). We now offer guided plant hikes followed by food tastings at the new Farm. These events feature locally sourced foods to support local farming and businesses!!!
Give us a call at 828-260-4505 or see our WEBSITE.
Our goal is to allow outdoor persons the opportunity to enjoy shooting by visiting our facilities, which include a 50,000 square foot, lighted shotgun range.
